With the dollar up roughly 3 1/2 percent from December 29 against the six most widely traded currencies, gold futures are down again. This is the first time since 2005 that the dollar has gained and gold prices to fall during high dollar value.

Gold rose to its highest price in eleven weeks today, while silver and platinum were also up, due to the rising tension in the Middle East.
